The National Weather Service LaCrosse will be providing a talk to our section! This presentation will focus on the NWS WSR-88D radar; its specifications, operating modes, performance, and ways we use the radar for interrogating severe weather.

Kevin Skow - NWS Federal

Biography:

I am a lead forecaster with the National Weather Service forecast office in La Crosse, WI and have worked with the NWS for 16 years. I began my weather service career at the Anchorage, AK office in 2009 before moving to Des Moines, IA in 2011. I later worked at the Topeka, KS office from 2016-2021 before moving to La Crosse.  My main areas of expertise involve severe weather warnings, radar interrogation, and post-event storm surveying. I grew up in the Twin Cities and graduated from the University of North Dakota with a B.S. in atmospheric sciences.
