Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become a key addition to today’s life, and it has affected everyone regardless of their age, role, or experience. But are AI tools being used the right way? What are the gains they allow but also what pitfalls should one avoid while using them? Many questions arise and need to be addressed quite quickly by scholars and policymakers to ensure we are building our AI-powered working models on the right foundations. Of course, this applies to all fields, and education is one of them. In fact, education is one critical space for AI use. How can AI be used safely in an education setting? What should teachers and students focus on or avoid? Are these tools replacing teachers soon? Overall, how to ensure we are reaping the full benefits of such emerging technology? We will address these points and consider mathematics education as example. The talk will be accessible to a general audience.
