Virtual Meeting with IEEE UCCS Student Branch and IEEE Pikes Peak Section

This is a specific EXCOM and an initial meeting about understanding the needs of the IEEE student branch at UCCS and how the IEEE Pikes Peak Section can help.

Attendees include: Dr. Darshika Perera (IEEE UCCS Student Branch Faculty Advisor, Aarushi Gupta (Chair, IEEE UCCS Student Branch), Helen Guerrero (Vice Chair, IEEE UCCS Student Branch), Dr John Santiago (Chair, Pikes Peak Section), Daniel Thomson (Student Branch and Young Professional Coordinator), and Dr Bill Michaels (Capstone Course).

Discussion was about possible activities between the student branch section as well as funding from the Section to help jump start the student branch.   Bill Michaels who is the professor in charge of capstone courses later attended the meeting to talk about possible collaboration between IEEE student members and projects associated with National Museum of WWII aviation.  He also mention about the deep racer competition with further details that needs to be worked out.  Daniel Thomson, Student Branch and Young Professional Coordinator, also attended the meeting and suggested of ways to help recruit student members such as raffling off tickets for participating students offering free membership.  The meeting concluded with their first activity having Dr John Santiago and Daniel Thomson as speakers, scheduled for 6 Oct 2022 (Thursday), 11:00 am - 12:30 pm.
