Visa Application Guidelines for Foreign Nationals to Taiwan
There are two ways for conference participants to obtain a Taiwan visa:
- Those who qualify for visa exemption – please refer to Item 1.
- Those who require a visa – please refer to Item 2.
Note: These two categories do not include scholars from China.
1. Visa-Exemption Program
People from the following countries do not need to apply for a visa to stay in Taiwan for a period ranging from 14 to 90 days.
Eligible for a stay of up to 90 days:
Albania, Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Eswatini*, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Haiti, Holy See, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan*, Kosovo, Republic of Korea, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Marshall Island*, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, North Macedonia* (effective until March 31, 2025), Norway, Palau, Paraguay, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tuvalu*, United Kingdom, United States of America*.
Eligible for a stay of up to 30 days:
Belize*, Malaysia, Nauru, Saint Kitts and Nevis*, Saint Lucia*, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Singapore.
Special cases:
- Nicaragua (excluding diplomatic/service passports): up to 90 days
- Honduras* (excluding diplomatic/service passports): up to 90 days
- Dominican Republic (excluding diplomatic/service passports): up to 30 days
- Thailand (effective until July 31, 2025, excluding diplomatic/service passports): up to 14 days
- Brunei (effective until July 31, 2025, excluding diplomatic/service passports): up to 14 days
- Brunei Certificate of Identity holders: up to 14 days
- Philippines (effective until July 31, 2025, excluding diplomatic/service passports): up to 14 days
2. General Visa Application
Individuals not eligible for visa exemption must complete the following procedures to apply for a Taiwan visa:
- Visit: https://visawebapp.boca.gov.tw/BOCA_EVISA/home.do
- Click on “General Visa Applications” and complete the form with your personal information.
- Print your completed application and submit it in person at your nearest ROC Embassy or Mission Abroad.

Important: eVisa applications are not applicable to this conference, as it is primarily organized by IEEE IAS and not the Taiwan government. Therefore, the organizers are unable to apply for eVISAs on behalf of conference participants.
