Auzewell “Auz” Chitewe, MSc, BSc Hons, is as a nurse and is an Improvement Advisor working as Programme Director of Improvement at the National Institute for Health & Social Care Excellence (NICE) in England. He is a senior member of faculty for coaching and teaching on improvement science across professional, communities and organisational boundaries.


His previous team at East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT) had the privilege of being awarded the 2022 Quality Team of the Year award at the fifth International Quality Awards (IQA).


In addition to his leadership of improvement functions across organisations, Auz is experienced in supporting of frontline improvement projects, developing and delivering system-wide work programs, collaboratives and learning systems. Some of his work has centered on system-wide improvement to reduce bed occupancy, improve access to services, joy in work, improving population health and tackling inequalities.


When he’s not playing  with his 2 young boys aged 9 and 5, he enjoys tinkering with all sorts of digital technology and shooting 360º photography.
