  • Other rabbits—23 (anesthetic death), 31 (viral illness), 33 (anorexia), 35 (gastric perforation) and 61 (stroke/sacrificed) died following aneurysm induction but before treatment. Subsequently, all rabbits were pretreated with alkali and a proton pump inhibitor in an attempt to decrease the stress of anesthesia and operation. Column 2 indicates the number of weeks after aneurysm induction that treatment was carried out.
