Rapid responses are electronic comments to the editor. They enable our users
to debate issues raised in articles published on bmj.com. A rapid response
is first posted online. If you need the URL (web address) of an individual
response, simply click on the response headline and copy the URL from the
browser window. A proportion of responses will, after editing, be published
online and in the print journal as letters, which are indexed in PubMed.
Rapid responses are not indexed in PubMed and they are not journal articles.
The BMJ reserves the right to remove responses which are being
wilfully misrepresented as published articles or when it is brought to our
attention that a response spreads misinformation.
From March 2022, the word limit for rapid responses will be 600 words not
including references and author details. We will no longer post responses
that exceed this limit.
The word limit for letters selected from posted responses remains 300 words.
The ‘COVID-19 Pandemic’ has left the World with a ‘Learning Curve’ just as previous ‘Epidemics-Pandemics’ left a plethora of ‘Lessons Learnt’[1-6]. The bothersome ‘Issue’ is not a dearth of ‘Lessons Learnt’ but the ‘Programmatic Transformation’ of the ‘Lessons Learnt’ to ‘Productive Proactive Preventive Interventions’ which certainly would have been valuable in warding off the ‘COVID-19 Pandemic’. Several previous ‘Communications’ have drawn attention to this ‘Global Gross Deficit’ which made ‘Global COVID-19 Pandemic Public Health Interventions’ to be consistently behind the ‘Epidemic Curve’ with ‘Devastating Consequences’.
It is quite instructive and intriguing gleaning some facts from the recent ‘Communication’7 reflecting the deliberations at the ‘World Innovations Summit for Health (WISH)’ held in Doha, Qatar. It was reportedly clearly disposed that ‘Most Countries have not learnt the COVID-19 Pandemic Lessons’. This is a grave situational disposition. Previous ‘Epidemics-Pandemics Lessons Learnt’ were not beneficial in possibly averting the ‘COVID-19 Pandemic’ which was declared a ‘Pandemic’ by the WHO on the 11th March 2020 and in the latter half of 2022, it is reported that ‘No Lessons Learnt’ characterize the ‘COVID-19 Pandemic’ in most Countries which makes this more ominous and certainly more bothersome when considering preventing ‘Future Emerging Threatening Epidemics-Pandemics’.
It is reportedly suggested that, with the speedy production of the ‘AstraZeneca COVID-19 Vaccines’, future ‘Timely Vaccines Production’ using the extant ‘Vaccines Production Technologies’ should be achieved in less than a year. The extant ‘Vaccine Efficacy Conversational Controversies’ should excite a ‘Critical Global Audit’ of these ‘COVID-19 Pandemic Pharmaceutical Interventions’. Several persons are reportedly being ‘Infected’ with the ‘SARS-CoV-2 Variants and Sub-Variants’ even after the ‘Recommended Primary Doses’ and the ‘Additional Boosters’. This certainly constitutes ‘Lessons Not Learnt’ for ‘COVID-19 Pandemic’. To mount a ‘Proactive Vaccine Production Technology’ using the ‘COVID-19 Pandemic Experience’ will be tantamount to ‘No Lessons Learnt’.
Today, Wednesday 26th October 2022, the CNN transmitted a ‘Report’ showing the US President receiving an ‘Updated COVID-19 Booster’. This is coming after the US President reportedly received the ‘Recommended Primary Doses’, the ‘Additional Booster Dose’, subsequently had ‘COVID-19’ which was bothersome for a ‘Vaccinated Person’, had ‘Paxlovid Therapy’ as a further ‘COVID-19 Pharmaceutical Intervention’, had a ‘Possible COVID-19 Rebound’. The ‘COVID-19 Vaccines Efficacy’ must be situated with the ‘Triple-A Process Situational Appraisal’ to be of benefit in averting and managing ‘Future Emerging Threatening Epidemics-Pandemics’[8,9].
It is also reportedly suggested that ‘Global Widespread Vaccines Production Capacity’ will address the ‘Vaccines Access Inequalities’[7]. Ordinarily, this should be a welcome ‘Programmatic Intervention’ but the ‘Issue’ of ‘Inverse Equity Hypothesis’ remains a ‘Matter’ to be ‘Globally Disentangled’[4]. Already, the ‘Big Pharmas’ are reportedly reducing their ‘Vaccines Production’ since the beginning of 2022. This was ‘Lesson Learnt’ from previous ‘Epidemics-Pandemics’ but certainly to no avail in altering the ‘COVID-19 Vaccines Production Picture’; again the reality of ‘Re-Learning Lessons Learnt’ becomes imperative[6]. The ‘Coalition for Emergency Preparedness and Innovations (CEPI)’ reportedly gave ‘100-Day Challenge’ to Companies for ‘Vaccines Production Scale-up’ and this ought to be sustained to assure ‘Sustainable Vaccines Production and Availability’ in the ‘Global Fight’ against the ‘COVID-19 Pandemic’ and as the World envisions future ‘Epidemics-Pandemics’.
The WISH also reportedly got information that ‘Politicians’ in most Countries are reportedly putting ‘Economic and Energy Crises’ ahead of ‘Epidemics-Pandemics Preparedness’[7]. ‘Global Solidarity’ is also suggested through ‘Conventions/ Treaties’ as ‘Strategies’ in ‘Future Epidemics-Pandemics Prevention and Management’. The WHO called for ‘Global Solidarity’ for ‘COVID-19 Pandemic Control’.
This is a modest ‘Contribution’ to situate the ‘COVID-19 Pandemic Lessons Learnt’ appropriately to be beneficial towards preventing ‘Future Epidemics-Pandemics’ and with better ‘Global Preparedness’.

COVID-19 Pandemic, lessons learnt and innovation summit: Getting future epidemic-pandemic preparedness right
