Harvey Baker

Harvey Baker was born in Leeds and was evacuated to Doncaster during the second world war. He gained a scholarship to Doncaster Grammar School and then went to Leeds University Medical School, where he qualified in 1954.

He did national service as a medical officer serving in Kenya in the Royal Army Medical Corps with a battalion of the King’s African Rifles at the time of the Mau Mau uprising. On his return he worked in Leeds and in 1959 obtained his membership of the Royal College of Physicians.
