John Anthony Chappel

John Anthony Chappel was born in Yorkshire, the grandson of a miner. His father worked in banks and moved the family to London just after the war. John gained his first MB at school and deferred entrance to medical school until he had done national service as a radiographer with the Royal Army Medical Corps in Egypt.
