No Adult Protective Services Agency in Trinidad and Tobago
The government of Trinidad and Tobago has not established an adult abuse agency to protect disabled, elderly, mentally ill adults and adults with learning disabilities from abuse and neglect. The government allows these vulnerable adults to be abused, neglected and exploited in their homes, nursing homes, hospitals and the community. Despite ratifying the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the government of Trinidad and Tobago does not comply with the Articles concerning violence, abuse and exploitation. Vulnerable Adults have no agency to call when they are being abused and are left to suffer till they die at the hands of the abuser due to the inaction of the State to establish Adult Protection Services Agencies.
