Second cardiologist is sued for criticising a commercial health product

A cardiologist who was the principal investigator in a small feasibility and safety study of a “healing” stent is being sued for defamation by the device’s manufacturer over his reporting of adverse events.
The Hong Kong based company, OrbusNeich, has filed a lawsuit in the Netherlands against Pavel Cervinka, head of cardiology at the Masaryk Hospital in Ústí nad Labem in the Czech Republic, over his reports of the results of the GENIUS-STEMI trial, which compared the company’s Genous stent with a bare metal stent in patients with ST elevation myocardial infarction.
