Slides for: Digital Village Twin Etteln – The Most Digital Village

The village of Etteln started its digital transformation 10 years ago an became the most digital village in Germany. End of 2024 it was even awarded with the first place in the IEEE Smart City Contest. During this Webinar participants will learn about the initiation of this transformation process, the required infrastructure (fiber optic, LoRAWAN, 5G, NBIoT), the sensors deployed, the Smart City platform and the smart applications have been realized already. Several examples will show how the citizens were involved in the development of the strategy and how they are involved by using the digital solutions but also by creating them together. A live demo will present the digital twin of the village and different dashboards. Domains like energy, mobility or waste management will be addressed. The presentation will also provide an overview of other still ongoing projects like autonomously flying drone to support the local fire brigade or new autonomously driving people movers covering the first and last mile. Join the webinar to find out what you can take with you as most of the solution in Etteln are open source and the village is more than open to share its experiences.
