  1. Create LTI between Ebook Central and Desire to Learn (D2L)

We have successfully set up integration between EBSCO ebooks, Alexander Street streaming videos, and D2L. Ebook Central is the other main source of our ebooks so we'd like that integrated as well.

  2. Display publisher restrictions on downloading, printing, copying

It would be incredibly useful if e-book entries listed when there are publisher restrictions on downloading, printing, copying. This language on the page is insufficient: "Copy is not available for this book. Print and chapter download are not available for this book."

This FAQ it not so helpful as there could be several disparate reasons as to why this it occurring: https://bibliotheek.ehb.be:2192/s/article/Why-is-the-download-button-grayed-out?language=en_US. It puts the burden on us or the user to contact you if we want more info on why a download button is greyed out. If you know up front that there is a publisher restriction, please…

  3. The Library should be able to stop patrons from Request title if the Library has purchased max amount of 1user only.

Ebook Central Admin: Why did I get a mediated request for this title?

    1. Extended access enabled and set to upgrade automatically, but no upgraded access model is available, or the upgrade price exceeds the upgrade price limit.

    Suggestion for change:

The Library should be able to stop patrons from Request title if the Library has purchased max amount of 1user only. Example: A library owns 3 copies of a 1-user copy of an ebook and the ebook is currently in use. The Library have purchased total 3user access so the Library have enough licenses according to their policies. The patron…

  4. Better Search Experience - Some Miscellaneous Ideas for Finding Content More Effectively

A set of ideas from a librarian who would love to see enhancements to the search interface and the lists that are provided within the system.

    Who is curating the list?
    How often is it updated?
How is it updated/description of what’s on the list
More specific lists (i.e. Social Justice is great, but it’s way too broad for practical reasons and should be narrower by specific SJ topic)

    Better filtering:
    Popularity within LibCentral
    Critical Acclaim
    Awards
    Community Selections/Picks
Highlights/Spotlights around specific events or contexts
    Promotions/Sale Items
    Review ratings (like Amazon)
    New releases/future releases
Rather than “year of publication,” which…

  6. Receive notifications for titles removed from the DDA pool outside of the biannual ebook process

We've had instances where faculty members ask if we have an ebook available for a class that they'll be teaching in a different semester. At the time we receive the question, we have access to it as we have activated it as part of our DDA pool. By the time the class comes, it has been removed by the publisher and we no longer have access.

We would like to receive notification of the titles that will be removed by the publisher outside of the biannual ebook removal process. By the time it hits the MARC removal list, we are…

  7. Account Creation Requirements

Require patrons use a root email address selected by the institution (example: @[institution].edu), and verify the legitimacy of that address before creating account (patrons receive email with link to complete the setup process).

  9. request to add Full Download detail information to Title Report

Please add Full Download detail information on the Title Report and title list (via Dashbord).

Title list has an 'EPUB Full Download Only' column but we need a detail Full Download information exactly you listed on LibCentral Full Record. Please refer to the attached screenshot. Also please add 'Full Download information' to Title Report under the 'Availability' section.

  10. Allow folders we create to be re-arranged by the user.

Right now folders simply appear in the order created. I have many different ones, for classes and research projects. Sometimes an existing folder is too general with too many books, and I create "sub" folders, but I can't cluster them. I also can't move the folders that I'm currently using the most to the top so I don't have to keep looking for them.

  11. Counter reports should reflect usage for collection as it was on the dates selected (instead of as it was on the date run)

As it currently stands, if I run a report today covering 2018 usage for our consortially held collections, the usage totals only reflect usage for titles that are still in the collection (as well as newly added titles). It would be better if a report for 2018 usage included data for all the titles that were part of the collection in 2018. We have access to a couple large consortially held packages. The practice as it is currently in place results in a discrepancy of several hundred downloads in the BR2 count for Feb 2018 if we compare a report…

  12. Make EDI ordering and invoicing available on EBook Central

EDI ordering and invoicing is a key workflow process and making this possible via EBook Central would improve workflows and processes hugely.

  13. Export of Librarian Comments

It would be great to be able to export the Librarian comments in an CSV file. It would help librarians to analyse the comments and to communicate to stakeholders, for e.g. why DDA titles got rejected.

  14. Can ProQuest develop Okta as an SSO option for Ebook Central?

Can ProQuest develop Okta as an SSO option for Ebook Central?

    Additional Questions:

Has ProQuest worked with any schools or organizations to use Okta for SSO?

If Okta SSO for Ebook Central can be developed, will it also work to sign students into their "My Research" accounts when they are using the other ProQuest research databases?

If an SSO solution is implemented for off campus and BYOD students, can "on campus" users still get ProQuest access by IP authentication?

What steps would be involved in implementing SSO with ProQuest?

Currently patrons do not see prices for ATO Loans or when non-mediated processes (non-mediates STL or autopurchase) are defined.

  18. Add access permission to Expenditure and Usage Report

For tracking costs (of user groups defined by access permissions sets) a additional column of the user access permission in the reports (exports) would be helpful.

  19. Waitlist Suggestion

We recently enabled automatic upgrades/purchases in LibCentral with a threshold amount of $150 for each. However, now that fall classes have begun, this is resulting in multiple patron mediated upgrade/purchase requests for titles above that cost. Ideally, we would like to have auto upgrades/purchases enabled below that price threshold, but then have turnaways/waitlist options available for titles above that price. It would be nice it the setting wasn't an all or nothing for the waitlist option.

  20. Apply auto-upgrades to a set or collection of eBooks rather than ALL owned eBooks

The default setting for auto-upgrades makes all owned content eligible for auto-upgrade when this setting is selected. For institutions that have been buying 1-user or 3-user models for a long period, moving to auto-upgrades could have significant budget implications. We'd like to be able to apply auto-upgrades to select sets or collections of eBooks (DDA pool, course reserves, assigned course materials) rather than to all owned content.
