About Speaker
Rozenn Nicol is a researcher in Acoustics at Orange Labs in France, working on the enhancement of telecommunication services through innovative 3D sound technologies such as binaural, WFS and Ambisonics. Today she is also studying acoustic devices in the context of IoT (Internet of Things) and connected objects. After a sound engineering school (« Ecole Louis Lumière »), she was graduated as a CNAM (« Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers) engineer in Physics and Acoustics, before defending a PhD thesis on WFS applied to telepresence and videoconferencing at Le Mans University in 1999. Her work has resulted in numerous scientific publications (book chapters, papers and conferences), including an AES monograph on Binaural Technology. She also holds a number of patents in the field of spatial audio. She was involved in the French collaborative project « BiLi » (Binaural Listening), together with Radio France, France Télévisions and IRCAM. In 2014, she was awarded the « Médaille Blondel » of the SEE (www.see.asso.fr), and in 2016, her pioneering research on Binaural has been honoured with the title of AES Fellow.
