The construction and characteristics of electret microphone capsules for incorporation in various equipments or for use in tape recorder microphones is discussed. As the basic unit is a simple capacitive transducer which can, by additional acoustical means, be used either in omni-directional or directional microphones, its uses are manifold and it is inexpensive.
