The column loudspeaker has been used widely in Europe and is finding increasing acceptance in this country. This paper will discuss the evolution of the column loudspeaker and will introduce a three line array column loudspeaker which has been specifically designed for reinforcement of performing arts ensembles. Design criteria, performance measurements and applications to concert hall requirements will be discussed. A brief demonstration will conclude the talk.
