Formal preparation for occupations between the skilled trades and the professions -- usually at the postsecondary level and including the underlying sciences and supporting mathematics as well as methods, skills, materials, and processes of a specialized field of technology required for such positions as technicians, engineering aides, and production specialists. From 1966-2025, the descriptor "Technical Education" was used to index this subject.
