Janji, Milan – International Journal of Mathematical Education in Science & Technology, 2005
A short proof of Laplace's expansion theorem is given. The proof is elementary and can be presented at any level of undergraduate studies where determinants are taught. It is derived directly from the definition so that the theorem may be used as a starting point for further investigation of determinants.

Lim, Kieran F. – Online Submission, 2006
Students who are strong in logical-mathematical intelligence have a natural advantage in learning and understanding chemistry, which is full of abstractions that are remote from the material world. Simulations provide more-inclusive learning activities for students who are weak in logical-mathematical intelligence. A second advantage of using…

Dinov, Ivo D. – Online Submission, 2006
The need for hands-on computer laboratory experience in undergraduate and graduate statistics education has been firmly established in the past decade. Noddings, Nel – School Leadership & Management, 2006
Good leadership varies with the sort of enterprise to be led. We would not put the CEO of a large clothing manufacturer, inexperienced in warfare, in charge of a military expedition. Now and then highly successful people from one field are recruited to lead an entirely different enterprise, but their duties are usually limited, and often they are…

Ericson, Carolyn Bartick; Tompkins, Catherine J. – Educational Gerontology, 2006
Gerontology and research are two areas that are often resisted by undergraduate social-work students: "Why do you need to know how to do research as a social-work practitioner?" "Why would anyone want to work with older, sick and frail individuals when it is impossible to make a difference in their situation or in their lives?" These statements…

Oliver, R. – Journal of Computer Assisted Learning, 2006
Often with large classes of students it is difficult to cater for individual needs. In catering for the diversity of students,…

Hollenbeck, James E. – College Quarterly, 2006
Educators expect students to question, explain, hypothesize, and devise tests to determine validity concerning science and its applications. The traditional approach of presenting individual courses concentrating on single disciplines and ignoring linkages to other disciplines is abysmal. If we expect students to understand how science is related…
