Urban residential and Christian religious background and higher levels of educational attainment yield a later marriage age. Findings suggest that benefits accruing from higher social status, greater education, and delayed marriage are lessened by a shorter marriage/first birth interval. (Author)

No relationship was found between health ratings and depression scores, but a significant association emerged between a somatic symptom subscale and depression scores. Results indicated a factor structure based on the positioning of the positively and negatively worded items. (Author)

Special tests and administration techniques that increase the likelihood that elderly examinees will do their best are described. Children ages 4, 8, 12, 16, and adults responded to 24 paintings concerning three subject matters and varying in realism and space depiction. Five-factor analysis of variance indicated that the triple interaction of subject matter, realism, and spatial depth was significant for all. Preferences are discussed by age group. (SJL)

Findings indicated that physically attractive couples were more likely to show public intimacy. Younger couples displayed more intimacy than older couples. Couples who were similar in age interacted more than couples who differed in age. Husband-wife attractiveness did not significantly influence intimacy. (Author/BEF)

Four age groups between 7 and 15 listened to a prose passage delivered at a slow or fast speech rate and structured to join or separate related pieces of information. A recall test followed immediately. Performance was correlated to subjects' age and sex. Implications for classroom teaching are considered. (Author/SJL)

A sample of school children, ages 7-11, was given a range of short-term memory tests to determine whether recall was optimised by aural or by visual stimuli presentation. Results showed that for both sexes and for each age group aural presentation was consistently superior to visual. (Author)

The effectiveness of approval and affirmation of correctness was related to grade level for accuracy of performance, but not for rate. For accuracy of performance, a decreasing linear trend was found when approval effectiveness was evaluated across grades. For correctness, an increasing linear trend was found. (Author)
