A study aimed at developing a methodology for isolating and analyzing the value content of television programs is described and implications for education discussed. Three programs popular with children were found to present positive and negative values with equal frequency, though antisocial values were presented with greater intensity. (MJL)

Found that ridicule is a potent means of educating six-year-old television viewers but is far less satisfactory in motivating four-year-olds to action or in deterring their unwanted performances. A study was done to determine and describe the level of preschoolers' and first-graders' awareness, attitudes, and practices regarding cigarettes, pipes, and cigars. Data strongly reflected the fact that parents and older siblings are very influential in the eventual choices of young children to smoke or not to smoke. (JN)

Examined the vicarious effects on one child of observing another child receive direct social reinforcement in two studies. Results of both studies were similar.
