Strategies for Managing and Leading an Academic Staff in Multiple Countries
Hughes, Rebecca
New Directions for Higher Education, n155 p19-28 Fall 2011
Faculty are a critical component to the success of the academic branch campus. In an environment where academic quality is constantly in question, the management and leadership of the academic staff are important, particularly when that staff is spread across multiple geographic locations. In this chapter, the author begins by describing the broad areas that impact on the task of managing and leading academic staff in multiple countries. In the second half of the article, the focus will be on the author's personal experience with issues that can affect the relationships between "home" and "away" staff and the extent to which these issues can be generalized to other branch campuses.
