The Use of ICT in Science
MacKay, David
Primary Science Review, n76 p4-5 Jan-Feb 2003
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is unique as a core subject of the National Curriculum for England in that much of it is delivered and/or consolidated in the context of other subjects. A lot of development work has been carried out by teachers in recent years on how best to achieve this. In order to share this good practice with others, the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) has produced guidance and exemplification on how schools may meet their statutory requirements for ICT and on how ICT may be used to enhance teaching and learning. The guidance has been produced for each of the National Curriculum subjects and will be available on the QCA website. For science, the web materials include guidance on the use of ICT, together with cameos and case studies taken from each of key stages 1 to 4. This article outlines the guidance and case studies on using ICT. (Contains 2 figures.)
