Onward and Upward: Fundraisers Focus on Midlevel Donors to Rise above the Recession
Perry, Michael
CURRENTS, v36 n4 p25-29 Apr 2010
The changes and uncertainty people have seen in the economy over the past 20 months have created a paradigm shift in fundraising. This has certainly been the case at Holy Cross, a Jesuit liberal arts college of 2,900 students in Massachusetts, as it has been forced to rethink its strategies and adapt in creative ways to the new reality. Other institutions, such as Harvard-Westlake School, a coed private day school for students in grades 7-12 in Los Angeles; Georgia Tech, one of the nation's top research universities; and Davidson College, a highly selective liberal arts college in North Carolina, have also recognized the importance of midrange gifts and have employed new strategies to meet their goals. The author discusses how fundraisers focus on midlevel donors to rise above the recession.
