Speaking Personally--With Susan Patrick

Susan Patrick is the president and chief executive officer of the International Association for K-12 Online Learning (iNACOL). She is the former director of the Office of Educational Technology at the U.S. Department of Education. As director, she published the U.S. National Educational Technology Plan for Congress and managed research and technical assistance programs on educational technology. In addition, she cochaired the federal government's Advanced Technologies Working Group for Education and Training and served as a member of the Secretary's Rural Education Task Force. She received the 2001 Governor's Spirit of Excellence Award for work on the Telecommunications Open Partnerships for Arizona (TOPAZ) program to expand access to broadband. This article presents an interview with Patrick on the role of iNACOL in K-12 education, the blended learning model, and her former work at the state, national, and international levels.
