A Journey toward Excellence: An Interview with Bruce M. Shore

Bruce M. Shore is in his 39th year as a Professor of Educational Psychology in the Department of Educational and Counseling Psychology at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and Associate Director (McGill) of the multi-campus Centre for the Study of Learning and Performance. For 21 years he was jointly appointed as a member of the McGill University's faculty development unit. He has also served as Chair of the Department, President of the McGill Association of University Teachers, and Dean of Students. He has been awarded the NAGC Distinguished Scholar Award, two Mensa awards for articles written with students, and in 2009 was recognized with two separately adjudicated awards from his university: The Faculty of Education Distinguished Teaching Award and the David Thomson Award for Graduate Supervision and Teaching. This article presents an interview with Shore about his career in the field of gifted education, the books and articles he had written, and the important lessons he learned from a mentor.
