Lawson, Gerard; Hein, Serge F.; Stuart, Carolyn L.
Journal for Specialists in Group Work, v35 n1 p69-91 Mar 2010
A qualitative study was conducted to investigate supervisors' experiences of the contributions made by the second supervisee in triadic supervision. In-depth, open-ended interviews were conducted with 6 supervisors in a counselor education program. Participants viewed the second supervisee as a source of valuable information and insights for both the supervisor and the supervision peer and promoted the latter's learning and growth. The second supervisee's presence enhanced certain supervision activities or allowed new activities to be used. The addition of a second supervisee in triadic supervision changes the dynamics from those of individual supervision to something more similar to group supervision.
