Evaluating Psychological Trauma in the Aftermath of a Suicide Cluster
Conolly-Wilson, Christina
Communique, v38 n3 p12 Nov 2009
School psychologists must have a solid understanding of how to evaluate psychological trauma. In their line of work, they have found that the PREPaRE model of school crisis intervention provides important guidance when addressing this issue. Specifically, the PREPaRE model argues that school psychologists need to conduct a needs assessment before implementing any crisis intervention. This article offers an illustration of how the third element of the curriculum ("E," which stands for "Evaluate Psychological Trauma") is currently being addressed within the Waukegan Public Schools (IL).
