Making Room on the Shelf: The Place of Postmodern Young Adult Novels in the Curriculum
Knickerbocker, Joan L.; Brueggeman, Martha A.
American Secondary Education, v37 n1 p65-79 Fall 2008
As literature with postmodern characteristics becomes increasingly common, teachers of adolescents need to consider whether they should use these decidedly different novels and how they might do so effectively. This article identifies the characteristics of post modern novels and offers reasons for adding them to the curriculum. It also provides suggestions, with examples, for teaching with postmodern books.
