International Adventures: A Recreational Main Course with Some Learning on the Side
Mertz, Tim
Journal of the Wilderness Education Association, v20 n1 p9-10 Spr 2008
This past Winter, Stout Adventures at the University of Wisconsin-Stout took off for its first International Trip. Nine students, two student trip leaders and the author traveled New Zealand's South Island for twenty-two days. Jumping out of planes, rafting rivers, leaping off bungy platforms, sea-kayaking both Milford Sound and Abel Tasman National Park, tramping the Routeburn and Caples Track and a little urban and cultural exploration were all temptations the students couldn't resist. In this article, the author describes how he organized this International Trip for his students.
