An adolescent's attitude toward school government clearly reflects certain negative aspects that have to do with his/her alienation from the social life of the school. This article has been based on materials of a 2005 sociological survey of students in the ninth and eleventh grades of schools in the city of Moscow (n = 2,105). The aim of the research program was to study the dynamics of the transformation of adolescents' social views in the past ten years. This study shows that students' attitudes toward school government are influenced by various factors: gender, age, social stratification, success in learning activity, and social status in the collective. It is reasonable to suggest that to a large extent these factors also determine the different perspectives of the content perception of the functions of school government.
