Faith-Based Early Care and Education for At-Risk Children
Taylor, Susan B.
Zero to Three, v28 n3 p29-32 Jan 2008
A significant percentage of all child care programs are offered through religious organizations. This article describes the efforts of one church located in an impoverished section of Washington, DC, to respond to the needs of low-income families with infants and toddlers. The St. Philip's Child Development Center of Anacostia serves the community through early care and education for children and also provides much-needed employment opportunities to the community. The author describes some of the challenges and opportunities of faith-based partnerships for quality early care and education.
