Tenure Policies and Practices of American Evangelical Colleges and Universities. Part 2: Institutions Granting Tenure
Harris, Scott; Lumsden, D. Barry
Christian Higher Education, v5 n4 p341-364 Dec 2006
The first article in this three-part series (Christian Higher Education 5(3) 2006: 279-293) introduced the topic of tenure in American evangelical Christian colleges and universities. This article presents the findings from a study designed to ascertain the tenure policies and practices of member institutions in the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU). The study sought to determine (a) how many CCCU schools grant tenure, (b) why and on what basis tenure is granted, and (c) how consistent the tenure policies and practices of these CCCU schools are with the 1940 statement on academic freedom and tenure of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP).
