Having professional learning communities in place enables teachers and staff members to provide targeted assistance to students who need it. This article discusses Chardon (Ohio) High School's professional learning community program which provides time and support for students and teachers. Through the program, the teachers meet every week during the instructional day to collaborate on lessons, create common assessments, and know whether their students are learning what they teach. In this article, the author describes how Chardon's professional learning community program changed the way educators looked at education, their students, and their colleagues.
