Improving Lives through Evidence-Based Practice
Young Exceptional Children, v11 n4 p37-40 2008
Tess is a joyful eight-year old girl with epilepsy, frontal lobe dysfunction, and dyspraxia, as well as delays in language, fine motor, and gross motor skills. However, despite her disabilities, Tess happily embraces life. With assistance from a few support professionals, Tess currently functions successfully in a regular education second grade classroom. This article describes an interactive shared book reading intervention that was introduced to Tess by her mother in order to improve Tess's literacy learning and her ability to pay attention in school.
