Action Research: A Valuable Framework for Developing Staff Training and Solving Administrative Problems
Hirschy, Sharon Thompson
Exchange: The Early Childhood Leaders' Magazine Since 1978, n180 p74-76 Mar-Apr 2008
Offering training to promote positive change seems easy, but getting teachers to implement real change in their classrooms is not. Many administrators are using action research--which many teachers use to improve teaching--to address training issues and to facilitate problem solving. In this article, the author shares her experience with using action research in her first grade classroom to enhance the children's writing. She also cites the benefits of action research for administrators, the basic steps of action research, and strategies for using action research for solving administrative problems.
