Psychometric Evaluation of the Motivation to Change Inventory for Adolescents (Revised)-Icelandic Version: A Pilot Study
Sif Fridjonsdottir, Helga
Journal of Child & Adolescent Substance Abuse, v17 n2 p85-100 Feb 2008
A valid and reliable instrument was needed to assess motivation level and impact of a motivational enhancing intervention for adolescents coming for treatment at a detoxification and treatment center in Iceland. This psychometric study explored the Motivation to Change Inventory for Adolescents (Revised)-Icelandic version in that setting. Preliminary findings indicate that 14 items in the Motivation to Change Inventory of Adolescents (Revised)-Icelandic version have acceptable internal consistency reliability. These 14 items measure self-efficacy, social support, alternative activities and perception of life skills; these variables are all related to motivation to change, a multidimensional construct. Limitations and implications are discussed.
