Changing Educational Leadership and School Counseling Students' View of Their Respective Roles and Responsibilities
Rambo-Igney, Brenda C.; Grimes Smith, Patricia H.
Connections: Journal of Principal Preparation and Development, v7 p27-40 2005-2006
A variance in attitudes concerning roles and responsibilities between school administrators and school counseling students led the authors to advocate for change in the professional preparation of both. A study was conducted in which preservice counselors and administrators were brought together for an opportunity to dialogue about role expectations. The purpose of this study was to promote a better understanding of the roles of preservice counselors and administrators among the participants. Attitudes of role responsibilities of preservice counselors and preservice administrators on a pre- and postdialogue revealed changing perspectives for both. Principal and School Counselor Attitude Survey is appended. (Contains 3 tables.)
