The Drug Epidemic Impacts Our Children, Families, and Programs: Before We Can Get Hooked on Phonics We Need to Get Unhooked from Drugs!
Parr, Jerry
Exchange: The Early Childhood Leaders' Magazine Since 1978, n164 p18-20 Jul-Aug 2005
Methamphetamine is an extremely dangerous drug with long term and permanent effects. Increasingly users are not electing the path of abuse. Their choice is being made for them by their parents, friends and relatives--these users are the children. In this article, the author provides insights from children who are living in methamphetamine laboratories. He feels that early childhood staff and families must monitor legislation that threatens to weaken already diminishing resources and advocate for the continuation of programs that are already working to defend children.
