Inquiry, Slime, and the National Standards
Krantz, Patrick D.
Science Activities: Classroom Projects and Curriculum Ideas, v41 n3 p22-25 Fall 2004
This elementary activity follows the 5-E Learning Cycle as described by Bybee et al. (1989) and integrates literature from Dr. Seuss. Students observe and identify characteristics of several slime substances and must make comparisons to determine which one most closely resembles the slime substance described by Dr. Seuss. To maximize this experience, teachers should consider the methodology of the lesson as much as the material preparation. The lesson is aligned to the National Science Education Standards. Extension activities are included. (Contains 1 chart.)
