The Aviator
Friedman, Roger
Teacher Magazine, v17 n5 p24-28 Mar 2006
Friedman profiles Margy Natalie, 47, who has been a certified pilot for as long as she's been teaching. She owns her own airplane--a blue 1950 Ryan Navion B, has attended space camp and lists four airports as her favorite places in the world. She is one of the two public school teachers on full-time loan at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum's Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Virginia. The unusual arrangement--public school teachers serving as museum educators--has placed Natalie and a colleague from a neighboring county in the two-year-old facility's classrooms, where they teach the 26,000 students from across the country who visit on field trips each year.
