Winter, Janet; Neal, Joan C.; Waner, Karen K.
Delta Pi Epsilon Journal, v47 n2 p67-74 Spr-Sum 2005
Because employers want workers who can successfully run meetings and manage teams with diverse characteristics, conflict management is a skill that every business graduate should possess. The purpose of the study was to identify the most popular and effective ways that students used to manage conflicts when working on team projects. A survey was administered to 362 college juniors and seniors enrolled in business communication courses. Results showed that the most popular technique to handle conflict in teams was to get more information to clarify each side of an issue. The most effective technique to handle team conflict was to encourage participation by soliciting input from each member. (Contains 5 tables.)
