A Long Walk to The Water's Edge
Fortner, Rosanne W.
Science Activities: Classroom Projects and Curriculum Ideas, v42 n2 p30 Sum 2005
Middle school students examine data from the Great Lakes region, assess impact of climate changes, and relate climate and water processes in a concept map. After learning how lake water levels will likely decline, they listen to a story about a grandparent revisiting the lakeshore with a grandchild. In the role of the grandparent and then of the child, they visualize the change in the shore and write their impressions of the science and the impact on society.
