A State of Growth
Gibbs, Hope J.
Techniques: Connecting Education and Careers, v80 n7 p25-29 Oct 2005
In Georgia, the technical college system is flourishing and offers the Peachtree State's students a number of career opportunities that are ripe for the picking. Georgia has invested more than one billion dollars in its technical college system. The investment was well worth it, as thousands of students were drawn to the newly built and modernized facilities. The state also passed legislation that allowed technical institutes to change their names to technical colleges and expanded Georgia's unique scholarship program, HOPE, making financial aid more available to all technical college students. This article gives descriptions of four Georgia technical colleges that are among the fastest growing schools in the nation: (1) DeKalb Technical College; (2) Coastal Georgia Community College; (3) Gwinnett Technical College; and (4) Central Georgia Technical College.
