Tribal Colleges: Playing a Key Role in the Transition from Secondary to Postsecondary Education for American Indian Students.
Brown, Donna
Journal of American Indian Education, v42 n1 p36-45 2003
Eleven American Indian students who transferred from tribal colleges to the University of North Dakota (UND) were interviewed regarding their readiness to attend a 4-year institution. Participants felt tribal college prepared them well for UND and that they had benefitted from remaining close to home and family and from the tribal colleges' support for students, culturally relevant curriculum, and strong sense of community.
