How Can Student Teachers Elicit Experienced Teachers' Practical Knowledge? Tools, Suggestions, and Significance.
Meijer, Paulien C.; Zanting, Anneke; Verloop, Nico
Journal of Teacher Education, v53 n5 p406-19 Nov-Dec 2002
Describes how student teachers can use stimulated recall and concept mapping to elicit experienced mentor teachers' practical knowledge, noting that systematically examining experienced teachers' practical knowledge offers insight into teachers' observable teaching and opportunities to relate these underlying thoughts to theoretical and more abstract notions student teachers face in teacher education, therefore leading to more thorough understanding of other teachers' teaching and student teachers' own developing practical knowledge.
