The Developmental Course of Gender Differentiation: Conceptualizing, Measuring, and Evaluating Constructs and Pathways.
Liben, Lynn S.; Bigler, Rebecca S.
Monographs of the Society for Research in Child Development, v67 n2 p1-147 2002
Four studies established the reliability and validity of measures for assessing attitudes toward others and sex typing of self in occupations, activities, and traits. A fifth study provided longitudinal data from children tested 4 times from age 11 to 13 years. Data supported conceptual distinctions among individual's gender attitudes toward others, feminine self, and masculine self, and revealed differences across domains. The self- other relation differed by sex of participant. (Author/KB)
