Reexamines the 15 talk fragments in "Fraternal Bonding in the Locker Room: A Profeminist Analysis of Talk about Competition and Women" (Curry, 1991), which epitomizes how sociologists utilize talk. The author examines the utterances and finds that 9 fragments reveal some dissent in how listeners react to crass talk, arguing that sport talk should be analyzed using conversation analysis. (SM)
