The Relationship between Multicultural Competence and White Racial Consciousness among Student Affairs Practitioners.
Mueller, John A.; Pope, Raechele L.
Journal of College Student Development, v42 n2 p133-44 Mar-Apr 2001
The relationship between multicultural competence and racial consciousness of 534 White student affairs practitioners was assessed using the Multicultural Competence for Student Affairs-Preliminary 2 Scale and the Oklahoma Racial Attitudes Scale-Preliminary Form. Experiences with multicultural issues and identification with socially oppressed groups were significantly related to multicultural competence. White racial consciousness types predicted significant amounts of variance in multicultural competence. (Author/JDM)
