No Matter How Long the Night, the Day Is Sure To Come: Culture and Educational Transformation in Post-Colonial Namibia and Post-Apartheid South Africa.
Nekhwevha, Fhulu
International Review of Education/Internationale Zeitschrift fuer Erziehungswissenschaft/Revue Internationale de l'Education, v45 n5-6 p491-506 Nov 1999
Argues that the post-Apartheid curricula of Namibians and South Africans are primarily influenced by western educational models. Contends that the cultural capital of the African masses is lacking in the curriculum. Suggests that the much-acclaimed African cultural renaissance in education will only become a reality when educationalists embrace the "pedagogy of hope." Contains 30 references. (VWC)
