The Emotional Practice of Teaching.
Hargreaves, Andy
Teaching and Teacher Education, v14 n8 p835-54 Nov 1998
Examined emotional relationships between teachers and their students. Interviews with principals and seventh- and eighth-grade teachers who were very committed to several educational reforms indicated that teachers valued emotional bonds formed with students and appreciated the purposes of educating their students as emotional, social, and intellectual beings. Their emotional commitments and connections to students energized and articulated everything they did. (SM)
